Golf simulator nets: choose the setup around your room

A golf simulator net is one part of the setup. Choose the launch monitor and display path, then check ball-flight distance, net footprint, swing room and containment separately. A net with a compatible device or connected display can suit a different plan from a projected screen. Neither a listed net size nor a monitor distance approves the whole room.

Choose a net or a projected screen first

A net-based simulator still needs a way to measure the shot and display the result. Spornia's simulator guide describes three paths: a net and launch monitor with a compatible phone, tablet or computer; virtual courses on a supported device or connected display; and projection with a compatible screen and projector. Use those paths to organize the parts list. Check compatibility for the exact monitor and device.

4. Choose Your Launch Monitor · Publication date not stated for this section

Follow the manufacturer’s requirements for your specific model.

Guide lists phone/tablet, computer/connected display and projected-screen setup paths. Each external device/software retains its own requirements.

Your intended setupCheck before choosing the containment product
Net with a phone, tablet or connected displayExact monitor support, device requirements, where the display will sit and how you will read it.
Net with a screen attachmentScreen compatibility with the exact net size, included mounting parts and the screen's installation instructions.
Screen and enclosureOuter frame dimensions, viewable image area, rear clearance, side and overhead protection, plus projector placement.
A setup packed away after practiceThe maker's assembly and folding procedure, storage space and which parts must come off first.

The Net Return offers size-specific Sim Kits for Home and Pro nets. A screen attachment is a separate product decision; the name of a net family does not establish the right screen size or package contents. Check the selected net, screen and accessories on the maker's current listing.

FAQ

Can I turn my Home or Pro Series into a golf simulator? · Publication date not stated for this section

we offer Sim Kits for both the Home and Pro Series

The FAQ describes indoor/outdoor use, modular replacement parts and a net warranty of 3 years or 250,000 shots, whichever comes first. Screens/accessories have a separate one-year warranty. Seller, region and full terms need checking.

Use the component-fit guide for mat height, screen dimensions and projector throw. Use our Home versus SPG-7 comparison when choosing between those two exact nets. We have not measured their noise, rebound or durability.

Map each room measurement to its endpoints

Draw the ball position and intended impact plane before adding equipment. Keep the sensor-to-ball distance separate from the ball-to-net distance. Then record the assembled net's depth and any clearances required by its installation instructions. A manufacturer's minimum ball-flight distance is not the complete room length.

The Net Return's product guidance tells readers to check width, height and depth, allow for the full swing, and use the launch monitor's own ball-to-net and room-depth requirements. It explicitly says net height does not guarantee ceiling clearance.

Will the net fit in my room? · Publication date not stated for this section

Launch monitors have their own ball-to-net and room-depth requirements.

The current multi-product page separates sizes. Net dimensions describe hardware, not a room approval or a complete screen/enclosure package.

MeasurementName the two endpoints
Sensor positionMonitor reference point to the ball or tee, following the exact monitor instructions.
Ball flightBall or tee to the net or screen impact plane.
Containment depthFrontmost to rearmost assembled net, frame or enclosure point.
Rear installation clearanceThe maker's specified net or screen reference point to the wall or obstacle.
Swing spaceThe golfer and longest intended club at the finished mat height, with surrounding obstructions assessed separately.
Side and overhead coverageThe installed barriers, roof and frame against the proposed hitting position and surrounding area.

Do not add every listed depth mechanically: a net's impact plane can sit within its footprint. Draw the installed arrangement so overlapping measurements are not counted twice and required gaps are not omitted. If the maker does not define an endpoint, leave that part unresolved and ask about the exact installation.

The room-dimensions chart keeps monitor-specific distances together. The ceiling-height guide separates documented installation heights from personal swing clearance. The room finder is another starting point for the monitor records; it does not qualify a net or approve containment.

Treat side protection, anchoring and inspection as product checks

Read the exact net's assembly and use instructions before hitting balls. The Home Series V2 manual says to face the Net Return logo toward the athlete, maintain clearance around and above the net, and weight the base with sandbags because of tipping risk. Its instructions also warn against prolonged ultraviolet exposure. These are Home manual instructions, not a universal setup procedure for every net.

Danger of tipping over! Always weight base with sandbags.

Home Series V2 manual linked from the current manufacturer assembly page. Logo faces the athlete; avoid prolonged UV exposure and maintain clearance around and above the net. This is not a universal containment guarantee.

Spornia's warranty page instructs users to inspect the net and target sheet before use and keep adequate clearance from people, structures and surrounding property. It excludes weather damage and improper storage or maintenance. An indoor/outdoor label does not establish permission to leave a net outside in all weather.

Warranty

Netting Warranty · Publication date not stated for this section

60-day limited warranty against manufacturing defects and material failure under normal use and care.

Dedicated policy distinguishes 60-day netting coverage from one-year frame coverage; normal wear, improper use/storage and weather damage are excluded. Product-page one-year banner does not establish one year of netting coverage.

Record which side barriers, roof, frame padding, anchors or weights the selected product requires, which are included and which are separate purchases. A product photograph cannot answer all of those questions. Keep unknowns visible rather than turning an accessory list into a containment guarantee.

Recheck the installation when adding an impact screen

A projected setup adds a screen surface and its mounting requirements. Keep the viewable image dimensions separate from the outer frame. Check the exact screen-to-net fit, projector position and installation clearances rather than carrying a net-only footprint into the new arrangement.

Carl's Place describes a 12–16 inch gap between the screen and the wall for its setup with six-inch black ball bungees and one-inch pipe. Its screen-size guide recommends standing a minimum of 10–12 feet from the screen and says the screen needs movement. Other mounting methods need adjustment. These figures describe that maker's screen guidance. They are not setback rules for the Home net or SPG-7, and they do not override the instructions for another screen.

Deciding Factor #2: Buffer Space · Publication date not stated for this section

Golf Screen Depth: You will want 12-16 inches of space between the wall behind the screen and the screen itself.

Carl's Place describes 6-inch black ball bungees and 1-inch pipe for this general buffer guidance, with adjustment needed for another mounting method. It separately recommends standing a minimum of 10-12 feet from the screen. These figures are not net setback instructions.

For computer-based projection, the GSPro Windows requirements provide the software's PC requirements. Check your chosen software and output device separately. Neither a screen nor a net supplies a software entitlement.

Finish with an exact-model checklist

Before ordering, record the model and revision, assembled dimensions including attachments, intended display path, monitor distances, installation instructions and required accessories. Add the pack-away procedure if the room serves another purpose. Check replacement parts and warranty exclusions alongside the headline warranty term.

The Net Return Home and Spornia SPG-7 comparison applies that checklist to two documented products, including unresolved roof height and separate netting/frame warranty terms. Use it to prepare questions for the maker. It does not rank performance or establish that either net fits your swing.

Common questions

Can I use a golf simulator without a projector?

Spornia documents a net and launch monitor with a phone or tablet, plus a computer or connected-display option. Check your exact monitor, device and software requirements before choosing that path.

Is net depth the same as ball-flight distance?

Keep them separate. Net depth describes the assembled product. Ball-flight distance runs from the ball to the impact plane. Follow the monitor and net instructions for their own measurement endpoints.

Does a seven-foot net fit a seven-foot ceiling?

A listed net height cannot establish swing clearance. Roof attachments, installation clearances, the mat, the golfer and the club need separate checks. Confirm the complete assembled product dimensions.
